ATLANTA, Ga. – Averitt Express, a leading freight transportation and supply chain management provider, has announced it is expanding its presence in Atlanta.

With a massive new distribution facility in West Atlanta, Averitt is adding more flexibility and power to its Atlanta network, which consists of three facilities located on the Atlanta perimeter in west Atlanta, Norcross and Marietta.

The new west Atlanta facility, located at 5887 Fulton Industrial Boulevard, replaces Averitt's previous west Atlanta facility located at 5125 Duquesne Drive. It has double the amount of dock space and nearly twice as many dock doors as the previous location.

Averitt currently employs 137 associates at its West Atlanta facility. Averitt is currently seeking to fill positions for regional drivers based out of the new West Atlanta service center.

The new facility features:

* 123 dock doors
* 52,000 square feet of dock space
* 35-acre lot


Averitt's total commitment to the Atlanta area, encompassed by the three locations, includes: 365 dock doors, nearly 150,000 square feet of dock space, 500 associates, 160 tractors and 650 trailers.

Averitt officials say the expansion represents its commitment to growth in Atlanta, in a market that is critical to its operations across the U.S.

"As the seventh largest industrial market in the U.S., we recognize the role Atlanta plays in the U.S. economy and the global economy," said Kent Williams, Averitt’s Regional Vice President for Georgia. "In terms of acreage, this new service center in Atlanta is the largest facility in our 37-year history. That really says it all when it comes to the significance of Atlanta to our customers, our associates and the future of our company."

Williams says the new facility will help Averitt provide faster and more flexible service in and out of Atlanta.

"Having more space allows us to process freight faster and more efficiently. This is going to help us further improve our service between Atlanta and the rest of the U.S."

The new service center is equipped with the most current information technology to ensure complete shipment visibility and efficient operations. The facility also features several amenities for its drivers, including a drivers' lounge, fitness center, showers, on-site fueling stations and a drive-through truck wash. The service center is also home to a state-of-the-art maintenance facility, Averitt’s third in the Atlanta area.
